Stellantis is recalling more than 132,000 Jeep Cherokee vehicles in the U.S. because an electrical short in the power liftgate module could lead to a fire.
The automaker said it is advising owners of 2014 to 2016 vehicles to park them outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete, adding that fires could occur with the ignition on or off.
Stellantis said the vehicles, built between February 2013 and September 2015, had power liftgate modules that were vulnerable to water intrusion, making them susceptible to electrical shorts.
The company said it has identified 50 customer assistance records, 23 warranty claims and 21 field reports potentially related to the issue, but that it isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries.
Stellantis said the remedy is currently under development.
