Singapore will offer an additional 1.1 billion Singapore dollars (US$801.40 million) of measures to aid Singaporean households with high costs of living.
The package provides more relief for domestic households, particularly lower- to middle-income families, the country’s finance ministry said Thursday. Although inflation has come down from its peak, households are still coping with the effects of price increases in various areas, the ministry said.
The government will distribute S$800 million worth of measures such as an additional payment of up to S$200 for 2.5 million eligible adult Singaporeans, the ministry said. Other steps include public-transport vouchers worth S$50 each for resident households with monthly household income per person of not more than S$1,600, the ministry added.
Further, additional subsidies of around S$300 million will be provided in 2024 to help moderate a public-transport fare increase and pay for higher costs of offering public-transport services, the ministry said.
