Narf Industries said Monday that it has been awarded a $1.8 million contract from the U.S. Government’s Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health.
The cybersecurity company said it will work on the Electronic Health Record Format for Interoperable Secure Transformation digital health security program to support research that aims to protect the U.S. health care system’s electronic infrastructure against threats.
Narf said the work makes the most of capabilities developed under its multimillion dollar Safedocs contract with another government agency, which has the same goal but is focused on standard business document formats such as PDFs, and aims to thwart malware risks and attackers’ attempts to hide malicious code.
“It’s the cumulative value and synergistic nature of these incremental research awards that’s important to recognize in Narf’s strategy to leverage non-dilutive research work into commercial products. Over 75% of this year’s revenue, multimillion dollars, is directly contributing to our intellectual property pipeline and creating the foundation for a new generation of threat intelligence and vulnerability solutions,” Chief Executive Officer Steve Bassi said.
