Kontron said it has secured two contracts worth a total of 100 million euros ($105.7 million), and the company expects to continue to benefit from growing demand for in-flight connectivity services.
The German technology company said Tuesday that the awarded projects involve the supply equipment for in-flight entertainment and communications, or IFEC, systems for aircrafts of multiple airlines.
Under the first design project, which could generate around EUR90 million in revenue over five years, Kontron will provide key IFEC components from 2024, it said.
Separately, Kontron will supply equipment to a major satellite-communications operator in a deal worth around EUR10 million over two years. The agreement offers room for potential volume expansion and additional deployments, the company said.
Kontron said its avionics segment is well positioned to tap into growing demand from in-flight connectivity services, enabled by a shift toward low and medium earth orbit satellite constellations, as well as to benefit from a postpandemic resurgence in travel.
